This week our topic is discipline over rigidity. When consciously creating your life, choosing discipline over rigidity is a key distinction to master.
What is the difference between discipline and rigidity? I’ve worked to see the difference in these words and I’m excited to share what I’ve come up with in my own study with you. As you know, I’m all about overcoming the all-or-nothing mentality. And I love to help others overcome it too.
All-or-nothing thinking is that rigid mentality that we want to avoid. For example, do you have a “perfect” weekly routine in your mind? What happens when something causes you to need to deviate from the “perfect” plan? Do you throw the entire routine out the window when a small bump in the road causes you to shift?
I want to challenge you to focus on this kind of thinking instead: How can I be more disciplined this week…how can I show up for myself…no matter what happens?
When we show up with discipline, we’re listening to our body and what’s changing by the moment…and we’re responding by choosing how to show up for ourselves and what matters most to us, no matter what’s hitting the fan.
Discipline says: How do I show up for and nourish myself no matter what?
Rigidity says: I can show up for myself only when my perfect schedule or routine is possible. Or when I complete everything on my list and there is more time.
When we hold ourselves to rigid ideals, we end up not showing up for ourselves enough…because perfection rarely occurs.
Before we know it we are burnt out and resentful to all the people we said YES to helping before we took care of ourselves.
I challenge you to start considering: How can I show up with more discipline and what matters most to me?
How can I release rigidity around what I thought had to be the perfect schedule? Who do I feel like I am letting down when I don’t show up in this way?
I invite you to listen to me talk about this live inside the Clean and Conscious Facebook community. You can listen to this live here: https://www.facebook.com/revivedliving/videos/4600091366709448
